Day Trip: Los Angeles Day Cruises

Los Angeles has so many things to explore – personally, I have a huuuuge bucket list of places to go, foods to try, and experiences to have. Definitely on the list is to take a day off from work to relax on the ocean. I’ve heard that a great way to do this is to take one of the many day-trip cruises that debark from LA’s ports! Thankfully, I have quite a few friends that have grown up in LA and recommended certain trips to me – which I will now share with you!

1. Fun Zone Boat Company

Where: 700 Edgewater Pl, Newport Beach, CA 92661

The name of this company is quite suggestive and sticks in my head. It’s a pretty cheap ride (starting at $19 an adult for a 90 minute harbor tour) and family friendly. Besides that, there are also cruises around Balboa Island so exploring a new place through cruising around the waters first is also chill! Fun Zone Boat company also offers sunset cruises so that’s another great LA day cruise I’d consider.

2. Catalina Express

Where: 320 Golden Shore, Long Beach, CA 90802

As somebody who’s never been to Catalina Island before, making a hassle-free visit there sounds like a dream! All of the photos I’ve seen of the place have been beautiful. My friend Emily told me that the Catalina Express is a really popular cruise to Catalina Island. This trip could start from several places, such as Long Beach or Dana Point, so it’s easiest to pick the most convenient starting point for you.

On the boat, there are the standard lounge areas and amenities as well as plenty of outside seats to enjoy the cruise with the sun shining down. The cruise is not too long, and takes passengers straight to Catalina for the day, returning back to the coast of LA by night.

3. Santa Monica Sailing Adventures

Where: 14001 Palawan Way, Marina del Rey, California 90292, United States

Are you a free spirit but not exactly sure where you’d like to go on the open seas? No worries, booking an adventure like at Santa Monica Sailing Adventures is the way to go. You can reserve a boat for you and your friends and just show up, knowing that the captain will take you safely wherever. The best part is honestly bringing all your friends and snacks and drinks along for the ride 🙂

4. Harbor Breeze Whale Watching

Where: 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802

There are a lot of whale watching cruises available that all seem pretty good, and among these include Harbor Breeze Whale Watching. I love animals and marine wildlife, so going out into the ocean to see some migrating whales fits perfectly. Besides whales though, the ocean near Los Angeles actually also often has dolphins and even killer whales! This is a must-go Los Angeles day cruise.

Since we’re surrounded by the ocean, making a relaxing trip out is a must-do at least once in a lifetime!
