About

Inspiration Point Loop in Will Rogers State Historic Park  is one of my favorite hiking trails in Los Angeles. A nice hike with a bit of shade, it is perfect for beginner hikers. Not only it is perfect for an easy yet gradual hike with family and friends, but it also brings a little bit of history with it: the story of Will Rogers.

Will Rogers was one of the most popular actors in Hollywood in the early 1930s. A big lover of nature and polo, he build the Ranch house and the polo field after buying the land in the 1920s. The Will Rogers State Historic Park Polo Field is still used today for many different charity events.

Highlights

  • A 1920s Ranch House (you can visit it Thursdays and Fridays, from 11 am to 2 pm, or Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4pm – no reservation required).
  • 2 golf holes built by Will Rogers for a friend of his who loved to play.
  • Breathtaking views of Santa Monica, the Los Angeles Coast, and Downtown LA.
  • Horseback riding lessons on one of the best LA hikes

Directions

Backbone Trail, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272. Parking in the park is $12, but you can park on the street 200 yards before the entrance.
