It is estimated that about 20 million people in the US are intolerant to gluten. As a gluten-free diets becomes more popular, more gluten-free friendly restaurants are popping up across the country. LA, especially, offers an abundance of options tailored to any type of diet: vegan, ketogenic, paleo, raw, gluten-free, you name it. I was recently diagnosed as gluten-intolerant, but as a foodie, I don’t want to give up my favorite carb-loaded dishes. Here are my top picks for gluten-free friendly restaurants in LA:
1. Bondi Harvest: 1814 Berkeley St, Santa Monica
Bondi Harvest offers gluten-free pancakes and a variety of bowls, from acai to their popular Caveman Bowl (aptly named because it is paleo). Not everything here is gluten-free, so be sure to check for the GF symbol next to the dish. They even offer CBD oil as an addition to any drink so you can start your morning with a jolt of energy AND good vibes.

Powerplant is self-described as “joyfully gluten-free, organic, plant-based cuisine.” The menu has a variety of options from burgers served on gluten-free buns and sandwiches on gluten-free Grindstone Bakery bread to all-day breakfast items (!!).
