Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” And I personally love doing just that.
My goal is to help others satisfy their curiosity and desire to try new things in a hassle-free way but it’s always hard getting started with something new. So get ready to pick the next activity you’re going to try right here in LA!
Oh and don’t worry, regardless of your results, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the activity that may be right for you 🙂
Grab a pen and piece of paper and we’ll get started!
For each question, rank how much you agree with the statement from 1-3 with 1 being “not at all”, 2 being “maybe/sometimes”, and 3 being “absolutely”. No peeking at the results!
1. I’d peer down the edge of the Grand Canyon.
2. Deep purple is one of my favorite colors.
3. There are a couple of things on my desk that don’t belong there.
4. I loved going on the monkey bars when I was little.
5. It’s not a workout if you can talk while you’re doing it.
Now, average your score and multiply it by 2 and check your score!
Score of 2 – 2.5 : Zen and nature loving, trying new hiking trails would be great for you. You can check out the views from the Santa Monica Mountains or snap a cool new Instagram photo (share it with us by tagging @belyvly!). In hiking, you can personalize the length and intensity of your trips, meaning that you can fit a little mosey outside anywhere in your schedule!
Score of 2.5 – 3: Spending a couple hours just off the coast, listening to the rhythmic dip of your paddle in the water, and looking out for interesting wildlife would appeal to you — luckily, that’s exactly what kayaking is! Get out to Marina del Rey for smooth waters and the chance to see some sea lions.
Score of 3 – 3.5: You seem to be the kind of person who’d like to go on a sporty adventure with a dog, or maybe a dolphin. Have you heard of stand-up paddle boarding (SUP)? Take a pet or a friend along as you work on your balance and explore the bay.
Score of 3.5 – 4: Indoor rock climbing and unassisted bouldering are both right up your alley. These activities involve much persistence and forearm strength, as well as technical knowledge of footwork, how to use chalk, and the V-Scale.
Score of 4 – 4.5: If you were a Disney Princess, you’d probably be Moana (gender neutral here). The sea calls to her and compels her to sail, and that’s what your test results call you to as well. Sailing on the Pacific takes a little practice but this guide
will give you that little boost up!
Score of 4.5 – 5: You’ve been to the beach, but have you been kitesurfing? This trendy new hybrid of water and board-related sports teaches you to be more in tune with the wind, water, and yourself (while working out every muscle — including your mind).
Score of 5 – 5.5: Hang gliding is the sport you have got to try. Luckily for you, LA is truly one of the best places to get started, particularly weatherwise! Soaring the skies like a little bird will be a rewarding, one-of-a-kind experience.
Score of 5.5 – 6: Wow, you’re truly an outgoing adventurer! Get out there and try wakeboarding or outdoor rock climbing to fulfill that craving for thrill and intense workouts. Both are bound to make your arms sore and give you that adrenaline rush!
