Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Every Saturday until the end of July, Cinespia shows classic movies at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. General admission tickets cost $16 and include entry for a picnic and the movie, as well as a pre-show DJ set, a photo booth, and occasional celebrity sightings.
Rooftop Cinema Club
Running through June, the Rooftop Cinema Club features iconic movies shown on various rooftops around LA. A deckchair reservation will cost you $17-$18, or add bottomless popcorn for an extra $3. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the fresh air and show.
Soak up the summer sun on one of these beautiful hikes in the Los Angeles area. Opt for a coastal hike on a hot day and end with a dip in the ocean, or hike to the Malibu Creek rock pool for a swim.
Free archery lessons
Channel your inner Katniss with a little bit of bow and arrow action. Los Angeles Archery offers free classes every Saturday morning and the second Sunday of each month. Spots are first-come, first-served, so get there early to claim your free class.
Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine
Practice mindfulness at the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades. Learn to meditate at the temple, explore the garden and shrine, and check out the museum of Paramahansa Yogananda’s Possessions.
Attend the 38th Annual Lotus Festival at Echo Park Lake July 14th-15th. This free festival features various food vendors, handcrafted artwork, a gift bazaar, a tea ceremony, dragon boat races, and of course the blooming lotuses.
Public star party
One Saturday per month, Griffith Observatory hosts a public star party where you can gaze at the sun, moon, and planets through a variety of telescopes. You also get the opportunity to chat with astronomers and other star party attendees.
KCRW Summer Nights
KCRW hosts free outdoor performances all summer long at various locations around LA. Jam out to live music, enjoy food and drink, and enjoy the unique offerings at each location – like cooking demonstrations in Chinatown or the Hammer Museum’s new exhibit, Made in L.A.
Jazz at LACMA
Fridays in June and July, leading jazz musicians perform at LACMA; legends such as Wayne Shorter and John Clayton have been featured in the past. Enjoy a day at the museum and free live jazz music at this popular and beloved program.
